T2:15A Automated Trading: How can the industry mitigate the risks?

Continental A
Investors, regulators, legislators, and the press continue to worry about the potential havoc that can be created when an algorithm does not behave the way it is intended to behave or when an algorithm is deliberately designed to mislead the market.  The industry has made tremendous efforts to encourage and adopt best practices in creating and operating algorithms and to build safeguards into the marketplace itself.  This panel will bring together experts from trading, brokers, exchanges, and industry organizations to discuss initiatives such as the FIA's Guide to the Creation and Operation of Automated Trading Systems and report the findings of the recent FIA Global Survey on Exchange Risk Management Practices.
